Greg's work for inspiring organizations such as Greenpeace, Amazon Watch and Project Bandaloop has taken him all over the world--from 2600 feet up El Capitan in Yosemite to above the Arctic Circle to the Amazon jungles of Peru. His video work has been seen at the Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts and the Kennedy Center; and on 20/20, David Letterman and many other television programs on CBS, ABC, and ESPN. In 2005 his work with Project Bandaloop and David Letterman earned an Emmy award for Best Technical Production on a Late Night Show. Greg has always been fascinated by the many scales of the Universe - from the very small to the very large, the very short to the very long. Cameras took him where he could not go in either space or time. He has always been inspired to tell great stories that move people emotionally and expand their understanding of the world. No wonder he became a Cinematographer and Editor. Greg's background is in Fine Art and Sports Photography. Eventually he felt confined by the single image and turned to filmmaking. In college he combined his passion for the mountains with his love of visual storytelling by studying Media Arts and Outdoor Leadership. After college, he moved to San Francisco to cut his teeth in the brave new digital world by designing non-linear editing systems and shooting everything he could. He also started editing and doing motion graphics. His experience as an editor has greatly benefited his camera work by developing an innate understanding of how images work together to create a story. To Greg, the best things about filmmaking are its infinite scope and working with great people in amazing places on meaningful projects. |
